Work as part of a cross functional team developing new welding processes and power supplies through a deep understanding of our customers using automated equipment for the industrial manufacturing segments. Be able to install, program, and trouble shoot automated weld cells, develop welding procedures, and run customer samples; using various materials and welding processes. Training customers in the use of new equipment, both in house and in the field; interface with various levels of an organization, i.e. production and engineering, purchasing, and senior management. Daily telephone support of applications and processes. Up to 35% travel required, domestic and International.
Applicant must be knowledgeable in the GMAW and GMAW-P welding processes as it pertains to automation i.e. material thickness, joint designs, travel speeds, etc. Have demonstrated a proven welding engineering track record with five years related work experience in installing, programming, and troubleshooting welding robots.
•BS in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology with job-related welding experience required.
•Experience in manufacturing, supporting both processes and procedures related to industrial manufacturing.
•High personal confidence and ability to be assertive. Can be direct as well as diplomatic.
•Candidate must be a self starter and a team player, with good planning and multitask organizational skills
•Demonstrates honesty, keeps commitments and behaves in a consistent manner
•Measure and document process and performance characteristics using high speed photography, oscilloscopes and PC based software programs.
•Understanding of communication and protocols between welding systems, robotic systems, and process supervision.
•Ability to troubleshoot complex welding cells (secondary circuit, volt sense, cable management, etc.)
•5-10 years experience in industrial welding
•Knowledge of electrical hardware components and how they affect welding.
•Expertise in writing GMAW-P welding programs.
