Job Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting product development as it relates to purchasing activity for systems and components ranging from supplier selection, cost modeling, and project management. High degree of internal interface is required with plant leadership, engineering system groups, suppliers, Parts, Accessories, and Customization (PAC) purchasing personnel. An understanding of process and design related cost drivers, excellent organization &
interpersonal skills are balanced enablers to achieve in this position. This position will lead part and component development activity, equipment and tooling moves and purchases. Ability to analyze and manage components through process and product verification, validation, and product launch. Responsible for multiple component cost, quality and timing requirements per business case commitments. Supplier leverage and engagement in the product development process. Lead project activities related to product launches or purchasing

Education Required:
The position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, materials management, supply chain management, business administration, or equivalent degree. MS Eng., MBA, PMP and /or CPM certification is a bonus.

Experience Required:
A minimum of 6 years of demonstrated performance in technical competencies of procurement, engineering, finance, and/or operations are required. The candidate must have strong knowledge and experience in the production or procurement of components and subsystems, preferably within an automotive or motorcycle manufacturing environment.

The candidate must have a thorough understanding or experience in implementing strategic purchasing relationships with suppliers. Strong, demonstrated program management and communication skills are required. The candidate must have strong knowledge of concurrent product and process development techniques and supply chain management, preferably through contribution to product launches. The candidate must have strong knowledge of APQP requirements and operations techniques including but not limited to statistical operator control (SOC), manufacturing, cost management tools,
benchmarking, and other quality and continuous improvement tools.

Additionally, the candidate should have experience working PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and project timeline software. Requires demonstrated communication skills, clear articulate speech, good listening skills and the ability to generate clear, concise written documentation. Must be capable of directing external support staff and outside agencies. The ability to influence through indirect authority is essential. It is highly desirable for the person filling this position to have knowledge in the area of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories.

Supplemental Information:
Travel required will average 10-15% while spikes surrounding projects or launch may result in longer duration.
