Harley-Davidson is seeking a Senior Development Purchasing Engineer for the Willie G. Davidson Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI. This 370,000 square-foot facility opened its doors for operation in March 1997 and was built to bring together the Original Equipment (OE) Engineering, Styling and Developmental Purchasing groups in a centralized location to improve the product development process. The functions represented within the PDC include Styling, Engineering, Finance, Information Services, Product Liability, Purchasing, Marketing, Homologation, Sales, Service and key suppliers. The employees located at the PDC are responsible for new product development, testing, styling and developmental purchasing.

The Senior Development Purchasing Engineer position is responsible for supporting product development activities related to purchasing activity for systems and components. This position will work through all phases of product development including concept and process selection, cost modeling, and will lead project activities for new product launches and purchasing processes. The Senior Development Purchasing Engineer will be responsible for leveraging and engaging suppliers. This function will lead part and component development activity related to new product launches, builds and purchasing processes. They will manage components through process and product verification, validation, and product launch. This position is responsible for multiple component cost, quality and timing requirements. They will interface internal stakeholders and outside suppliers.

Education Required:
Bachelor's in Engineering, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or equivalent degree
Master's degree preferred
Project Management and CPM certifications preferred

If the candidate does not meet the degree requirement, a combination of relevant education and experience will be considered

Experience Required:
6+ years of broad experience in the following areas:

- Experience in the production or procurement of components and subsystems
- New product development and introduction/launch experience
- Supplier quality and relationship management including knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes
- Operations experience including Capability Studies, PFMEAs, and Control Plans, just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing, cost management tools, and quality and continuous improvement tools
- Ability to influence outside agencies and influence through indirect authority

Ideal candidates will also have exposure and knowledge in:

- Experience in a plant or manufacturing environment
- Motorcycle riding experience and knowledge of Harley-Davidson and Buell motorcycles and accessories
