Job Summary:
The International Tax Director will lead the international tax strategy for Harley-Davidson, Inc. and subsidiaries. This position will provide coaching and mentoring to a diverse group of tax employees and be the primary communication link between tax and the business functions as it relates to international tax. This position is responsible for establishing the directions, project plans, and resource requirements required to improve the international tax results while balancing stakeholder interests. This position will oversee the International Tax Team in providing guidance, direction & support on international tax planning and compliance, including transfer-pricing, international audit issues, expansions into new markets, foreign currency issues, etc. In addition, this role will provide consulting support related to non-income tax matters including indirect taxes, customs duties and withholding taxes. This role will also be involved in establishing, monitoring and communicating internal tax policies and procedures to ensure appropriate documentation and internal controls to minimize tax risks and liabilities.

This position will provide guidance to and collaborate with internal stakeholders including members of the following teams: tax department, finance, treasury, legal, controllers, logistics and sales and operations. Primary external stakeholders include tax advisors and tax auditors. This position reports to the head of the Tax Department.

Education Required:
This position requires a bachelor’s degree; accounting or finance major preferred. A CPA designation is preferred and an advanced degree in Tax or Law is a plus.

Experience Required:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of income tax experience with an international accounting firm and/or global company that includes exposure to a variety of types of tax and related compliance and audit experience. It is preferred that a majority of the experience be in US and foreign international tax. Experience with a global manufacturer is a plus. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following:

- Strong leadership skills and personal initiative;
- Supervisory experience and experience with supervision of remote employees is a plus;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, the ability to explain tax concepts to non-tax personnel and tailor communication to recipients with different levels of knowledge;
- Experience and comfort working in a fast paced environment, both independently and as part of a larger team;
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work on several ongoing projects at once;
- Developed focus on time management and meeting deadlines;
- Desire and willingness to learn new areas of tax, keep abreast of changes in tax law and genuine interest in understanding the business operations and transaction flows;
- A demonstrated competency in tax technical and general financial knowledge with sound research and financial analysis skills;
- Strong problem solving skills with ability to apply general financial and tax concepts to new factual situations or changes in the business and the ability to identify potential issues or concerns and propose recommended actions or solutions;
- Understanding of financial and tax processes and internal controls with focus on improving efficiency and reliability of information; and
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, CorpTax is preferred and familiarity with extracting information from financial systems such as SAP and BPC
