Position Description

At Genesee Lake School (GLS) we provide a year round comprehensive residential, vocational and educational programming for children, adolescents and young adults with dually diagnosed developmental disabilities & emotional disturbances.

Homegrown Farms, located at Genesee Lake School, contains 52 acres of rich organic farmland planted with a large variety of crops. The farm production is used both within the school meal program and for the staff CSA. Students are involved in all aspects of the field growing process, from planning and planting through the harvest and distribution. We are currently hiring for a Crop Specialist - In House Community Supported Agriculuture.

Position Overview:

  • Develop field layout
  • Create and implement schedule for planting, harvesting, etc
  • Place orders for materials as necessary
  • Manage vegetable production
  • Assist with greenhouse flower production
  • Upkeep pond

Position Requirements:
 

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma / GED required, some college – emphasis in agriculture preferred.
  • One year of work experience in specialized organic practices required.
  • Previous knowledge of field mapping and the harvesting cycle a plus.
  • Valid WI driver's license with an acceptable driving record per company policy
  • Ability to bend, twist, lift, walk, and squat
  • Passing pre-employment background checks, drug screening, and physical
  • Provide two Letters of Recommendation upon interview or prior to hire
